About This Site

General
This is the personal blog of Joel Dixon. It was released in August 2007, but contains blogs originally posted to blogger from December 2004 (comments made on the blogger site were recreated by Joel when the new site launched).

Security and Privacy
If you choose to register with the site (which will allow you to upload a profile picture and maintain a comment count), your password will be encrypted and is not stored in plain text (i.e. I have no way of finding it out). I also salt all passwords on the site - so I am not even able to tell if your password is the same as anyone else's.

If you choose to provide your email address when registering it will never be displayed on the website. While other users are able to send you email from the site - this is sent from the server, and the public user will not see your email address (unless you reply to them). If you wish - you can choose to not receive emails from random site visitors by updating your profile.

If, as an anonymous user that has not registered and logged in to the site, you wish to leave a comment with your email address - the email address will be shown on the site disguised (with a few different scrambling patterns - like email_me@@@blah...com).
