Four out of Five times

Updated by Joel Dixon at 14/10/2007 12:35:43 - typo

Pittsburgh just beat the Maple Leafs 6-4, just two days after Toronto beat the Islanders 8-1. This win, combined with Pittsburgh's 3-1 record against the Leafs last year, means Pittsburgh has won the last 4 out of 5 games. While it's not quite 9 out of 10 times - it's pretty close

Crosby finally lit the lamp with his first and second of the short season. Crosby was pressuring all over the ice against Montreal last Wednesday and he kept up the intensity this game. But Crosby's offensive dominance is overshadowed by the team's leading goal scorer - Maxime "Mad Max" Talbot. Still sporting Chopper-esque facial hair, Talbot's leading the team in goals as well as killer French accents (followed closely by Fleury).

In response to Talbot's offensive leadership for the Penguins, Crosby seems to be working on getting his first fighting major of his career - giving Antropov a few face washes against the boards (he might have thought it was Armstrong). Nothing came of it - but you've gotta love the fire in Captain Cros.

Two wins and two losses is the same record Pittsburgh had at this time last year - so now I'm just waiting for the next 45 wins for our estimated 105 points

Tonight's post was brought to you by Mountain Crest Gold Lager. Not as enjoyable as Molson Canadian - but not too shabby.

Mountain Crest
Yes, I know this post has very little redeeming value - but I do hope Zelks is still visiting the site!

Haha
Haha, yeah I was hoping this was going to fly under the radar mate but of course not!
We've had a pretty ordinary start to the season, but well done to you guys!

Once you get to 11/10 then we can talk

You've had an interesting start - that's for sure. A 1-7 loss immediately followed by a 8-1 win!

As much as it pains me - I'm actually starting to like the leafs. They play their games a lot on Hockey Night In Canada - and with the huge Canadian-team bias they have here - I hear all about their rich history etc.

I really like Mats Sundin - he seems like a good guy (and top player). And any team that has Mike Myers drop the puck for the opening faceoff is OK by me!

I've been a fan of Mats Sundin for a long long time. It was Tie Domi who caught my eye and that's why I began to go for the Leafs (as oppesed to bandwagoning the Pens like the rest of you guys). Small enforcers Rule! Seeing Mats Sundin score two goals in the All Star game in the late 90's i think plus an assist was great viewing.

I don't keep up to date very well with the Leafs but try to look in on them and see what they've been up to.

Small enforcers are pretty cool. Pittsburgh has yet to receive a fighting major in this short season.

Hopefully that changes soon - as we've got one of the most feared heavyweights of the NHL in Big George Laraque!

Yeah, have you had a small enforcer since Barnaby? - could you call Barnaby an enforcer
/jumps into flame suit

Maybe not this year but in a couple of years the Pens could be a force to be reckoned with, got a lot of young guys startgin to come thorugh.

Plus the all important enforcer!

# Posted - 18/10/2007 14:30:04
I'll wait for Eryc's input regarding previous Pens enforcers (but I think you might be right).

Barnaby would more likely lick you into taking a penalty rather than actually fighting Though Barnas did come up with the brilliant nickname of Cornelius for Lyle Odelein. Classic!

I made a prediction on my brother's site over a year ago - the Pens would get a new arena with or without the Isle of Capri - and they would win the Atlantic Division title within three years.

They've got the arena (without Isle of Capri) and they were only a few points shy of the division title last year. I don't think this will be the season (the Flyers or Rags will get it IMO) - but still think we'll have it next year.

I didn't have the balls to say it at the time - but I was close to predicting that we would have won two Stanley Cups within the next 5 years. I'm making that prediction now! 2 Cups within the next 5 years (so long as Crosby doesn't quit hockey and take up synchronised swimming, with his legs in the air).

here i am to back up my team!

now, this bandwagon talk...i will have nothing of it gregory!

you would never call barners an enforcer..but he was all we had for a while. bonvie was smallish, but only played 26 games with us I think. and who could forget dear billy t? haha

i think we boasted two of the top 5 guys on the roster last year in Laraque and our hero Eric Carins, though Eric was out for the season by the time laraque came over.

I think Joel and I are committed to the cup for next year. I would like to see fleury actually deliver to his potential more consistently, cos without goaltending, as we all know, there is no playoff stretch (experience wise hey dixov).

the leafs are a good team to watch (if joel can find the youtube link of petrovicky-newbury from last year you will see what i mean), and Sundin is cool..especially after he admitted that he could be distracted during important games by pretty girls in the crowd .

PS THIS SEASON WE WILL BE MORE OF A FORCE THAN THE LEAFS! WHAAAAAAAA

How could I forget about Billy Tibbetts! Apparently he's playing in Finland now.

Oh - playoff experience! That's why I'm happy we have Sabourin as backup - they can't pull MAF out during the playoffs because the backup has more experience!

Man - Petro threw some heavy ones in there!

Quoting Eryc-Ads:
he admitted that he could be distracted during important games by pretty girls in the crowd
Brilliant - gotta love players with a personality!
