SNL Digital Shorts

# Posted by Joel Dixon at 23/12/2008 21:14:16

A friend of mine emailed through an amusing video that was on Saturday Night Live a few weeks ago:

Jizz In My Pants

The facial expression are classic

This is another video from The Lonely Island, a group of filmmakers including Andy Samberg, a repertory player from SNL. A couple of my other favourites:

Dick In A Box

I think it should be obvious what the censored word is

Another favourite is Lazy Sunday, but as the NBC site doesn't work in Australia - here's something completely different:

Street Fighter: The Later Years

# Posted by Joel Dixon at 05/11/2008 20:25:40

If you're a fan of the old school Street Fighter series of games you may get a kick out of a College Humor video series entitled Street Fighter: The Later Years.

Pretty funny, a nice walk down memory lane and surprisingly good production values considering. Here's the first episode:

Street Fighter: The Later Years

It's a series of 9 short episodes, so it's worth watching a couple so you can see your favourite character.

Stop looking at me, swan!

# Posted by Joel Dixon at 31/10/2008 19:58:07

My last balloon animal, Necky, needed a friend. Enter Swanana:

Swanana
I admit, my hand is strategically placed here to ensure the swan's head is pointed down

I had a spare blue balloon - so I have the Swan a lake to play in. I think I'll have to start looking for patterns for making a penguin.

Trivial

# Posted by Joel Dixon at 26/10/2008 14:35:37

Last night I attended a trivia night for my old primary school. Our table won the night (which was fun - as I've never been part of a winning team before) and everyone seemed to have fun.

I often take a relaxed approach to these kinds of events. I will generally stay quiet and let other people answer most of the questions - only piping up if I'm sure about the answer. I don't know why - but during the "TV & Movies" round I changed my approach slightly.

The question was "Listen to this TV show's theme music. For one point each, list the TV show's name, and the original series for which this was a spin-off.". I think I was buoyed from getting a couple of answers right the previous round, so before the music had even started playing I stood up and said to the whole table "Mork & Mindy. And it was a spin-off from Happy Days." I didn't know why I would even try to guess without hearing the music, so I sat back down to a few odd looks.

The light 80's-style music starts to play and people are guessing various shows like Dallas etc. After about 20 seconds I start to think that the music may actually have been from Mork & Mindy, so I reiterated my guess. We ended up going with it - and sure enough, I was right (to much high-fiving).

For those that don't remember the show's opening - here's a YouTube. The bit of the music that they played starts at 0:47 into the clip. Enjoy.

Awesome Blossom!

# Posted by Joel Dixon at 23/10/2008 20:19:29

How did I not know about a Blooming Onion?

Blooming eck
Bloomin' Heck

It's basically a large onion, cut up, and deep-fried. Yumsy! Apparently the Outback Steakhouse, an Australian-themed restaurant, invented the dish. This is a little odd - as I'm pretty sure it's not an Australian dish.

Either way - I'm keeping an eye out for some onions in bloom!

Timmy didn't think about the Mini-Feed

# Posted by Joel Dixon at 27/08/2008 21:01:43

Actual screenshot of one of my Facebook friend's Mini-Feed (I've changed the names to "Timmy" to protect the horny):

Mini Feed

Either my 15-year-old self borrowed Timmy's PC when he wasn't looking - or Timmy was bored a few nights ago and went trawling for Facebook funbags.

I must say, Fan de Big Tits does sound like a fun group.

Thongs and Superglue

The title says it all - I received the following image in an email forward:

The Deep Voiced Knight

# Posted by Joel Dixon at 04/08/2008 22:56:05

I saw The Dark Knight on the weekend and enjoyed it muchly. It goes without saying that Heath Ledger's contribution was incredible. One small aspect of his performance that I didn't expect when going in was his portrayal of the Joker's voice - it was a pleasant surprise. Christian Bale's take on Batman's "man voice" however - was very distracting.

Looks like I'm not the only one to think this - nor the most eloquent. One of the blogs I read hosted a mock interview with the caped crusader recently - which sums up my feelings quite well.

Quoting Geese Aplenty:
And you know what's even more annoying? You do it in front of people like Rachel and Lucius, who know who you are. I'm surprised they're not all 'Bruce, we get it, you're a badass. Now stop pretending you have a 6-pack a day habit.' What is the third movie in the series going to be called, anyway? "Batman Enunciates"?
Indeed.

Jonathan Roy charged with assault

# Posted by Joel Dixon at 03/08/2008 11:19:37

As mention in an earlier post, Jonathan Roy - son of hall-of-fame goaltender Patrick Roy - basically assaulted Bobby Nadeau in a very one-sided hockey fight.

Looks like someone over there's doing something right - as Jonathan's just been charged with assault.

Quoting Sportsnet:
If found guilty of the summary offence, Roy faces a maximum $2,000 fine and up to six months in prison.
I'd be surprised if he's faced with jail time, but it's good to the authorities are making a stand on this one. Incidents like this give hockey an bad name - which it doesn't always deserve.
