Living up to my title

# Posted by Joel Dixon at 23/02/2005 11:58:00

Yes, it's been close to two weeks since my last update. I'm only really adding this post now so that I won't have to change my title from "The rarely updated Blog" to "The very rarely updated Blog".

Been busy with wedding plans, and looking into buying a house. Also, the current project I'm working on will be finishing at the end of this week - and it's a bit of a mad rush to the finish line. I'll be happy when this is over - but who knows what I'll be going onto.

Here's an amusing Blog link - Things I hate about my flatmate. The artwork on there is nicely done as well.

Dragging and dropping

# Posted by Joel Dixon at 10/02/2005 01:26:00

It took me ages, but I finally got drag-and-drop working in my shape drawing program. I had to code most of it myself (the Java dnd stuff wasn't that helpful), but it works just as I like it.

When you draw a few shapes (that intersect), you can use the object browser to drag them up and down the list (the shapes are drawn from bottom to top). So the shape at the top of the object browser will be drawn on top of all of the other shapes. (use different colours and thicknesses to really see the effect)

Small things amuse small minds - and my small mind was busy on that one for a while

Busy as a Ladybug

# Posted by Joel Dixon at 08/02/2005 23:23:00

I've been quite silent lately - for two reasons.

1. Last week I was on a .NET training course, and I didn't have access to my work computer for the regular 8-10 hours a day. The course was great, and I really hope I start getting onto a few .NET projects in the near future.

2. I've been working at least 5 hours a night on a website for my girlfriend's Web Design Company. I've just finished it tonight - YAY - here's the link. You won't be able to see any of what I've done though - as I did the backend DB stuff that the client uses to update the dynamic content. My girlfriend does the easy stuff - the design and static pages (I can say that - because she rarely reads this blog!). The static content hasn't been added at the time of this post, but it should be up soon.

Oh - and I want a Mac Mini! (and no, not for free )
